The Kindness Project AKA The Painted Rock Movement

The kindness project is a world wide movement that encourages people to create inspirational rocks and leave them for others to find. When I started painting rocks about 3 years ago, I began because of this movement. I loved the idea of bringing smiles and joy to those who least expect it, but need it the most. My favorite places to "hide" the rocks i created were the emergency department entrance, the hospital grounds by the handicap parking and retirement complexes. I would never get to see the faces of those who were touched by my stones, but when i would see the rocks posted on Facebook and hear how they were found, it would warm my heart. Once I was no longer painting kindness rocks, I began to wonder if I would be able to create the kind of happiness with my portraits that I'd been able to invoke with my rocks. I soon found out, and continue to discover that my pet portraits do promote similar responses. I absolutley love to hear how a recipient of one of my pet portraits became emotional upon seeing it for the first time. I've heard of people choking up, tearing up and flat out crying because of the emotion they have for their furry family members. I may paint portraits for others, but really, it's my soul that gets healed.
